planning ahead...

i know how important this session is to you.

I am so excited for your session and feel so honored to capture your important life memories. These are just a few tips to help answer some of my most asked questions.

Please feel free to express your artistic self in your own unique way.

I am always open to location ideas and new concepts.

Time

I am a natural light photographer and believe that natural sun light creates beautiful photographs that are timeless and authentic. Natural light during the golden hour (just after sunrise or before sunset) wraps families in a warm, dreamy glow. It softens shadows, adds warmth to skin tones, and creates a magical, almost nostalgic feel that tugs at the heartstrings. Don’t underestimate the power of overcast skies either. Soft, diffused light eliminates harsh shadows and creates a moody, intimate atmosphere.

If we’re shooting indoors (at home session), the middle of the day is great because bright light from outside filters through the windows nicely.

Location

The natural environment complements family photography perfectly—think sun-drenched fields, forest trails, or sandy beaches. Families surrounded by nature feel relaxed, allowing their personalities and emotions to shine naturally.

If you've never done a family photo session at home, you might want to consider doing one there. Home is where your kids are most comfortable and most likely to demonstrate their unique personalities. Home is also where the memories are made, so a home photo session is a great way to capture some of your favorite routines, moments, and spaces in documentary style. I like your session to have an urban or natural feel.

Creative nature photography in Southeast Texas capturing natural light

I’m a morning person, so if you are too, I would LOVE to plan a sunrise shoot with you.

There is no such thing as "too dressed up" for your photo shoot.

Ball gown in the forest? Absolutely!

Connection Over Perfection

Real emotion often comes from candid moments—the way a parent gently brushes a child’s hair, siblings laughing uncontrollably, or a baby reaching out for their mother. Natural light amplifies the authenticity of these unposed moments, creating images that feel raw and real.
